Gen 3:4-6
4And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
We all go through different seasons in our lives. And as we move from one season to another, people come and go out of our lives. Some of the people who have come into our lives brought so much positivity. They changed our perception on a number of a things and helped us identify opportunities that were right in front of our face.
However, there are some people that we even regret giving access to our lives. Friends and acquaintances that we trusted, let us down. At times we opened up to them and they used the very same information to destroy us.
In the story of Adam and Eve, we learn a lot about conversations. Before the serpent came to Eve, she lived a happy life and never thought anything more of the tree of wisdom that was in the garden. To them, God had instructed them not to eat or touch that tree and they had no problem with that. But as soon as the serpent fed lies to her (Gen 3:6), she started seeing things differently. Her whole perception changed changed. The tree started looking good for food. All of a sudden the tree looked pleasant to her eyes and she started desiring the wisdom that she believed the tree would give her.
Her desires finally led her to eat the forbidden fruit, resulting in so many consequences. One of the greatest mistakes that Eve made was allowing herself to be vulnerable. When the snake asked her “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” She could have responded with a simple NO then immediately walk away. However, she responded “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”
It was the information that she provide to the snake that allowed the snake to tempt her. She disclosed a lot of information and the very same information was used to entice her.
Let us be careful of the people we let in our lives. Let us operate with the spirit of discernment so that we know what to say and when to say. Let the Holy spirit teach us when to speak and when we need to remain silent. Not everyone who interacts with us has good intentions. Just like what the serpent did, they might bring destruction into our lives.
