Mark 11:23 New International Version (NIV)
“Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.”
“Moving mountains” was a phrase used by the rabbis to describe overcoming seemingly impossible difficulties. Jesus was using the word “mountain” symbolically to refer to any high obstacle that might stand in our way.
Jesus said we should speak to the mountain. Most people speak to God about their mountains (problems) but few follow Jesus’ instructions’ to speak directly to the mountain.’ God has put so many things under our authority. we have been equipped with power and authority. And WE MUST exercise that authority which has been given to us. When a problem stands in our way, we must speak to the problem and command it to get out of our way in the name of Jesus. If we live according to Mark 11:23, commanding all the problems that come along our way to go, they will surely go. As Jesus instructed us, the ammunition we need is full faith and lack of doubt whatsoever in our hearts.
We ought to speak with power and authority that has been given to us. We ought to walk in full confidence of who we are. Children of the most High! Heirs of the kingdom! Authorized demon exorcists. Sons and daughters who can shake and move any mountain!
We have been freely given the gift of faith(Romans 12:3). And that faith does not look at the magnitude of the mountain that we are facing. Instead, it looks at the magnitude and power that our God has. That faith teaches us to be like the Davids of this generation. It empowers us to look beyond the Goliaths that we are facing and start praising the God whom we serve; The God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ever ask or think of; The God who has the power that works in us;(Eph 3:20-21). The God who knows no defeat; With such boldness, faith and praise, we speak and chase all mountains from our lives.
Today I challenge you to change your attitude. Start speaking to your mountains right now! And never ever let them speak to you or scare you! You are more than a conqueror through Christ who not only strengthens you but has already given you the power to overcome.
